Q: What age players will participate in CP Prep?
A: CP Prep is intended for players who are League Age 6 and have previously participated in a T-Ball program. To determine the League Age of your player, check the
League Age Chart on the GLL website.
Q: What changes are you making to T-Ball?A: T-ball players will hit exclusively off of the tee, and roster sizes will be smaller in order to create more play time for its participants. During the Spring, T-Ball games will consist of a 30-minute practice followed immediately by a 1-hour game. These events will likely take place on Saturdays.
Q: Where can I learn more about the rules of T-Ball and CP Prep?
A: We are finalizing the local playing rules for these divisions, which will be posted to our website before registration closes. T-Ball will continue to offer an introduction to the game, its play, and its equipment. CP Prep will build upon those fundamentals as players prepare to join the Coach Pitch Division (League Age 7 & 8). T-Ball will use a batting tee, where CP Prep players will have a coach “live” pitch to them.
Q: Are there playoffs or All-stars for CP Prep players?
A: We plan to begin keeping score and standings for CP Prep games halfway through the Spring Season. We plan to hold a single day, single elimination tournament at the end of the CP Prep season for the top 4 teams. There will be NO All-star teams in this division.
Q: My son/daughter is 5 or 6 year old, can they “play up” in either CP Prep or Coach Pitch Division?
A: League Age 5 players are intended to play in the T-Ball Division. League Age 6 players are intended to play in the CP Prep Division. Players new to the sport should participate in their appropriate introductory division, regardless of age. Any League Age 5 players wishing to play up in CP Prep must have previous T-ball experience. Any League Age 6 player wishing to play up in Coach Pitch division must participate in the player evaluations for that division, and must be unanimously designated by the coaching staff of that division as appropriately skilled to participate. Most importantly, there must be room in that division after registration closes.
Q: Can my son/daughter play on the same team as their older sibling if they are not League Age appropriate?
A: All players wishing to play in an advanced division must participate in the player evaluations for that division, and must be unanimously designated by the coaching staff of that division as appropriately skilled to participate. In years past, we saw these requests most often between T-Ball and Coach Pitch divisions. Adding the CP Prep division will provide these players the desired opportunity to advance their skills, remain safe, and have fun.
